If you’ve been keeping up with The 100 Club of Buffalo’s social media accounts, you may have seen that we’ve been announcing the winners of the 2023 Hero Awards, which recognize individuals in Western New York who have demonstrated courage and bravery. This year’s recipients include firefighters, police officers, a security guard, members of the Buffalo Bills medical and athletic staff, as well as a civilian who exhibited remarkable bravery during the Christmas Blizzard.

2023 Hero Award Winners:

1) Fire Fighter Brian Renowden – Buffalo Fire Department

2) Fire Fighter Rob Orlowski – North Tonawanda Fire Dept.

3) Retired Buffalo Police Officer Aaron Salter Jr.

4) Officers Anthony D’Augustino, Christine Ihle, and Ann Devaney- Buffalo Police Dept.

5) Civilian – Jay Whitey – Christmas Blizzard

6) Officer Matthew Leitzel – West Seneca Police Dept. and Officer Will Strehlow – Lackawanna Police Dept.

7) Reynaldo Beckford – Security Guard Hispanics United – Methadone Clinic

8) Buffalo Bills Medical and Athletic Staff

9) Erie County Sheriff John Garcia

10) Officers Jake Michienzi and Hao Tran – Buffalo Police Dept.

The 100 Club of Buffalo congratulates all the winners and expresses its excitement to share their heroic stories. The 64th Annual Hero Awards Dinner is scheduled for April 21st at Samuel’s Grande Manor, where MaryAlice Demler from WGRZ, 2 On Your Side, will serve as the event’s emcee.
