Q: How long have you served as a board member of the 100 Club and why did you decide to join?
I’ve proudly served as a board member of the 100 Club of Buffalo for about five years now. The invitation to join came from friends whom I had previously served with on the Erie County Law Enforcement board. Their request was a great honor for me, and I was pleased to accept. Witnessing the dedication and effectiveness of the 100 Club over the years, I felt compelled to contribute to its noble mission of supporting our community’s first responders.
Q: Could you share some specific programs funded by the 100 Club of Buffalo that support WNY heroes and their families, as well as the impact these programs have on the community?
A: One of the most significant programs funded by the 100 Club is providing immediate assistance to the families of first responders in the event of death or severe injury. This assistance, both financial and emotional, helps alleviate the burdens faced by these families during times of crisis. Additionally, the organization makes efforts to recognize and celebrate the heroic actions of first responders through events like the Annual Hero Awards Dinner, which further fosters community support and appreciation for their service.
Q: In what other ways does the 100 Club of Buffalo provide assistance and support to first responder service providers in the Western New York (WNY) region?
A: Apart from immediate financial assistance, the 100 Club of Buffalo extends support to first responders through various means, including recognition programs, educational initiatives, and ongoing advocacy efforts. By providing resources and fostering a supportive community, the organization ensures that first responders have the necessary support systems in place to carry out their duties effectively.
Q: Being in law enforcement for over 50 years is very impressive. What made you decide to embark on this career path?
A: After my military service, I found myself drawn to law enforcement as a career path that aligned with my desire to serve and protect my community. Despite initial apprehensions, my experiences on the job quickly affirmed my decision, and I felt a deep sense of fulfillment in helping others and ensuring the safety of our community.
Q: The Annual Hero Awards Dinner is a significant event for the 100 Club of Buffalo. Why is this event important for WNY first responders and their families?
A: The Hero Awards Dinner serves as a vital opportunity to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary efforts of WNY first responders. By honoring their bravery and dedication, the event not only uplifts the spirits of these heroes and their families but also reinforces the community’s gratitude and support for their invaluable service.
Q: Why is being a part of the 100 Club of Buffalo rewarding to you?
A: Being a member of the 100 Club allows me to witness firsthand the tangible impact of our efforts in supporting and uplifting our first responders. Knowing that our contributions make a difference in the lives of these heroes and their families is immensely rewarding and reaffirms my commitment to serving our community.
Q: If you have any spare time, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
A: In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family, indulging in my passion for cars, and diving into a good book!
